I bought one of these tiny audio varios from an ultralight store online. It is designed for paraglider and hang glider pilots, but I found it works pretty well for sailplanes too! It is very small and light, and has sixteen different levels of sensitivity. Great for a backup or a club glider with no audio. Obviously it's not TE compensated, but I found that it was chirping at me pretty much at the same time as the Cambridge vario in my panel.
Plus it's just neat. http://www.trikebuggy.com/products/flytepark/index.htm |

I purchased the Pro version for it's basic logging capabilities. I simply wanted something to record the length of my flights in rental gliders for billing purposes. Also, rental gliders have all sorts of different varios (often no audio) and I wanted a familiar 'voice' from glider to glider.
The altitude logging is a bit lacking (confusing to say the least), but since I don't care about that, well I don't care. I will say that it works well as a vario and while I had a few difficulties with the original unit (battery related), the customer support was exceptional. Overall super happy, but your results may vary. Ramy has not happy with the version he purchased. JB |

James, which version you bought, the micro or micro pro? I bought the nano which suppose to be the same as the micro just smaller and I found it totally unusable in a glider. It will switch back and forth from lift to sink alarm during a steady climb at steady speed. Can't even turn off the sink alarm. Which profile are you using? I used E which suppose to be less sensitive.

The Nanovario shouldn't be switching back and forth between the sink alarm and climb in a steady climb. Please contact me off-list and we'll get things sorted out. Cheers, Brian Vogel Flyte Park |

There are a couple settings with no lift tone, just climb and sink. Maybe try one of those? |
