Did the "B" model have drop tanks and a "horse collar" ATO rack? I thought
those were on the "E" model.

is identified as a U.S. Govt photo and also contains the same date and
information. Note also the aircraft on the right in the background
with the large T-tail. The only a/c I can think of that is that size
is the C-141 (Pre C-5) whose first flight was 17-Dec-1963

With regard to "the aircraft on the right in the background "with the
large T-tail," since the C-141 didn't exist in 1954, I think what
you're actually seeing is shadows of the partially open hangar doors.
Of course, I could be mistaken. Also, I am the original poster and I
appropriated the image from the Wikipedia page on the B-47.

I agree hangers doors , on the right the other aircraft are B-36
