true... medical issues that prevent a Class III medical certificate.. may
not hamper glider flying.. BT "Vaughn" wrote in message ... "BTIZ" wrote in message news:8hxqc.47790$%o1.19756@lakeread03... or come fly gliders... While I would also like to invite you to come fly gliders, the operative reg to read first if you have medical issues is 61.53(b). Vaughn CFI(g) |

yes that is always another choice to fly gliders. Flying Light-Sport
aircraft with the Sport Pilot license will give a pilot many more choices. -- Have a good day and stay out of the trees! See ya on Sport Aircraft group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Sport_Aircraft/ "BTIZ" wrote... or come fly gliders... BT |

![]() If a person has a medical condition that would prevent him or her from passing a Class III medical examination, then they DAMN SURE SHOULD NOT BE FLYING. PERIOD! I can understand the rationale behind not bothering with a medical to keep the cost of flying down. I can understand the rationale behind not bothering in the case of someone who is not interested in flying outside the restrictions. I just can't believe the intention of the ruling is to let a physically unfit person fly. |

That's a simplistic attitude there Casey. There are many things that would prevent you from passing a medical that have absolutely no affect on your flying abilities. For example, let's say that you're having a bit of trouble sleeping, the Doc prescribes an anti-depressant, a common solution and one that will cause problems. Presto, you now will not pass a medical and you could fly safely. There are LOTS more examples of similar things that could ground you. You could get allergies that the doc gives you a medicine that would prevent you from passing a medical. You are making the classic mistake of assuming that because you can't pass a Class 3 medical you are unfit to fly, there's a lot of paper problems that can ground you and that my friend is why many pilots look forwards to this. They've been grounded for no good reasons. |
