I am 24 and a college graduate.... I have had my Private for about a 6
months now and have built up about 100 hours. I have been considering a career as a professional pilot and was wondering what the best route to take as far as training goes. With aviation academies is it better to go to one that is airline affiliated, ie. delta connection academy or one that is not affiliated like Flight Safety or ATP?? Also are these places telling the truth about how many of their graduates get hired to instruct at the academy... I am especially intrested in the case of ATP where if you get a job there it seems like you can build up loads of multi time |

Also are these places telling the truth about how many of their graduates get hired to instruct at the academy... I am especially intrested in the case of ATP where if you get a job there it seems like you can build up loads of multi time im flying with ATP right now, and would reccomend them. Of the places that are affiliated with someone, all you get guaranteed is an interview usually, if that, so take that with a grain of salt. ATP's got a great price point (although it is going up soon i think), and the fleet is well maintained (piper seminoles, 79/80 and 00/01 models). Im at the dallas location and enjoying my time there and in the cross country time building phase. As for working at ATP, you've got to go through the program to be eligible (with few exceptions, based mostly on demand), and you sit in JAX answering the ATP 800 number for a while until you get placed at a location. Once you are there you can build up time pretty fast from what i've seen, depending on what location you are at. -casey PP-ASMEL-IA |
