I'm planning to fly our Cherokee 140 from the Houston area to Deland
Florida for some modifications. Looking at the sectionals, that route would take me thru the Pensacola and Eglin AFB area with lots of MOA's and restricted airspace. Can someone who is familiar with this area tell me the safest / easyest way to transit this area? Thanks in advance |

1. File IFR if you can.. they will route you through based on whats
going on at the moment. If everything is active they will reroute you to the Crestview VORTAC and around the north side. 2. Transit along the coast VFR as designated on the charts at the designated altitudes. I dont have the charts in front of me as its been a few years since I went in to Destin (enroute jacksonville and sarasota). I would be in continuous radio contact with center and approach wether its required or not. Btw.. Destin has a few good eating spots not too far from the airport, but it involves a rentacar.
