Default A long way from the Gulf, but...

Raleigh-Durham airport (RDU) recorded a 79 mph gust as a line of
thunderstorms associated with Ivan swept across the Carolinas and
Virginia today. In addition to some relatively minor damage to
buildings, several small airplanes were damaged (upside down, tails
twisted, that sort of thing). The airport spokesperson mentioned about
12 damaged planes on the evening news.

Not surprising, after seeing the strength of the feeder band that rolled
through. All we can do is hope for no loss of life and little damage.

Fortunately, Ivan did move on, instead of stalling in NC, and making matters
worse, flood wise. Parts of the mountains did get 12+ inches.

They had film on that on the Weather channel too.
