I'm a member of the Cessna Pilot's Association which seems to me to be
everything a type club should be. I always save far more on maintenance than my dues from stuff I learn. I see now that someone is starting a Cessna Flyers Association. Normally, I find competition a good thing but I don't see any upside here in two organizations, another set of dues, etc. Does anyone out there have any insight on why someone thought we needed another Cessna association? -- Roger Long |

I find competition a good thing but I don't see any upside here in two organizations, another set of dues, etc. Does anyone out there have any insight on why someone thought we needed another Cessna association? Interestingly, the same group has apparently started a new Piper Flyers Association. I haven't checked out their websites, but supposedly the two are identical except that one has pictures of Pipers, and the other has pictures of Cessnas. It would be hard to imagine this group beating or improving upon the Cherokee Pilots Association. They have a very useful (if amateurish) monthly magazine, a great book ("Cherokee Hints and Tips 2000"), and an annual fly-in that is the best of the summer. I've heard good things about the Cessna Pilots Association, too, so I imagine these new guys will have their work cut out for them. -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

I've gotten 2 copies of the new PFA magazines -- completely unsolicited.
It's even more amateurish than Cherokee group. Why? For an allegedly high-end magazine, it has serious spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes, and do we really need 18-24 pt. type font? Only two reasons I can think of -- target audience is far past the age of entry into AARP and/or there's so little content that upping the font makes it seem worthy. I was underwhelmed. |

Perhaps someone doesn't think that the current association addresses their particular needs (whatevery they may be). Another reason I've seen parallel organizations created is when someone in the hierarchy of the current club becomes disgruntled with some aspect of the club management and thinks that they can do it better. Back when I owned a Cessna, there was the CPA and also the Cessna Owner's Organization, which is still around. John Galban=====N4BQ (PA28-180) |

The Cessna Owners Organization is the same. Nice glossy magazine that
also gets mailed to another group of Piper owners. Different pics and one or two Cessna stories vs Piper stories. Jay Honeck wrote: I see now that someone is starting a Cessna Flyers Association. You know, I just saw their WEB site today. It looks really good, but under
the "why you should join" link, everything was dead. Maybe they're still trying to set it up? "Roger Long" wrote in message ... I recived the magazine also, I was not impressed lots of advertising and
little Cessna stories and Cessna info. This issue they were talking about hypoxia and the USAF joint FAA hypoxia safety training program. Also told about his experience in the decompression chamber. Before they get my $35.00 a year they need more Cessna stuff. Go out and test new products or old products and write reviews about them. Reduce Text Size and Ad's & put more content about Cessna airplanes & Cessna pilots. "Blanche" wrote in message ... I've gotten 2 copies of the new PFA magazines -- completely unsolicited. They do have a terrific web site. Ask any questions on any model and receive a good answer. Some very capable people are there to help. Hank 172 M |
