All, I just got a quote for $3300 per year on a 7ECA!!! (from Falcon) I have 250 hours and 50 tailwheel. What am I doing wrong? Wow. Two years ago I was paying about 1/2 of that for my 7GCAA through Avemco. Did they have any reason for what seems like a pretty steep rate? -Dave Russell 8KCAB |

If memory serves me correctly there is some magic number of tail wheel
hours at around 60. You may find the rate drops "a bit" after that. You are not doing anything wrong ... you simply need to accumulate lots of tail dragger hours and the rates will come down a bit. One thing you could try to lower your rate a bit is to raise your deductable to say $10,000. That is usually good for a $500 or so reduction in your yearly rates.
