When I was a kid growing up in Cincinnati, Procter and Gamble had a
small fleet of Grumman G-1's. When the G-2's came out, the G-1's were replaced. What has become of all the G-1's? Is anyone still using them? If not, why? |

A few corporations still use them but they are just too expensive to
operate compared to the relative luxury of a jet. The G-1 is a great airplane but simply past its usefulness or economics. |

One has been modified to play radar games with the Navy, a couple of others have been used to carry cargo and for semi-scheduled service to the gulf coast, and the remainder are ramp queens. |

If not, why? Those specific G-1's or G-1's in general? Phoenix Air uses G-1's for military contract work and to haul freight in. There are still a few in private hands that I see around..Don't know who owns them. -John *You are nothing until you have flown a Douglas, Lockheed, Grumman or North American* |
