I went in 2001, 2002 , 2003, and 2004.
Waddya wanna know? 2001 I stuffed my wife and three kids in my Cherokee 140. 2002 I stuffed my wife and three kids in a Cherokee Six. 2003 & 2004 I went by myself in my 140. The owner of my airport (60M) bought a camp up there recently, and also has a sailboat on the lake. "Cub Driver" wrote in message ... ![]() "Cub Driver" wrote in message ... Has anyone here ever been to the annual (post Labor Day) fly-in at Moosehead in Maine? I was there this past year. It was pretty nice. This is pretty far north and quite rural. I started hearing French on the local frequencies. There is a land airport which has good runways, and a lot of people camp out right at the airport. There is a beat-up old schoolbus that ferries you to the water airport or there are a few vendors that provide transportation in something less beat up. It apparently is the big event in Moosehead Lake for the year, and it has attracted a large following of arts and crafts booths as well that extend down into the town. All of the local restaurants are packed and sometimes getting a table can be a wait. I finally got to see a few Republic Seabees up close (2 were for sale no less) and a refurbished Grumman Goose. At the land airport was a Beech Staggerwing and a Grumman Widgeon. It is a very laid-back event and just a pleasant way to spend a day or two. The local scenary is pretty spectacular from the air, and you get a great view of the White Mountains lying off to the West as you fly up from the Boston area. I plan to go again next year, perhaps combine it with a trip up to Charlevoix, Quebec. Now *there's* a cool destination. -Marc |

Would you email me at and put CUBDRIVER in the subject line to get it past the spam blocker?
