Default iPAQ issues- Genius needed....

Hello all you iPAQ geniuses(?)...
I have two iPAQ , 3955 and a 3970.
The problem is I am unable to get either one to read any (3) SD cards, which make me think it is an operator error (the card is inserted into a slot on top of the PDA).
I would find 'storage card' under 'My Device' when using my older 3100 series iPAQs, but no such thing using the 3900 series.
Two different iPAQs and 3 different SD cards have failed to allow access to the storage card.
Looking for ideas , I want to use the devices to load waypoints into a 302 and retrieve flight logs. I understand a laptop can be use, I am simply trying to solve this riddle for now.
The one who solves this riddle will get bragging rights.
Thanks,
R

Hello Henry, KG @ SLGP. I use a iPAQ 3955 with Nav 11 and download my flight. use file explorer then my Device storage card should be under iPAQ File Store. It that fails try reset on bottom of your iPaq. feel free to contact me if that does not help.

Sometimes the older systems will not be able to read a larger capacity sd card. I don't see what size you are using but try no greater than 2GB. They are harder to find in retail stores but available on ebay etc.

Just to confirm what others are saying, the iPAQ 3955 and 3970 only read/write MMC and the original "Secure Digital" (SD) cards, which topped out at 1 GB. I believe there was a firmware update that allowed use of certain 2 GB cards. SDHC, SDXC, etc., cards with larger capacity don't work. There is also a formatting issue, I don't think the newer exFAT format is supported in any capacity card.

One card is a SanDisk 16 GB and the others are 1024 MB (micro).
I looked under iPAC File Store and get only a blank page.
OOOOhhhhhh , I can feel we are getting close....
This is better than the Nationals...
Several of you feel I need to start with a small capacity card.
Yes??????

OK....just got off the phone with KG who has the same unit as me and he said the only cards that work are the one with 7 contacts on the back and all my cards have 9. He tried the 9 in his and no werkie, but the seven do. So, I'll get a seven contact card and see what happens.
I will post the results and with any luck, announce if we have a winner in the iPAC Nationals.
I know y'll knew the answer.
Thanks
Lets hope for the fat lady to sing.

Interesting. I have used and still have in my possession a 3850 as well as had a3970 before I switched to PNS's and both worked fine with the same 9 contact sd cards. I didn't even know a 7 existed. My ignorance?
