UPDATE - MAY 15-16 RAAC NATIONAL FLY-IN AND AGM AT WIARTON
Confirmations are coming in from display planes and manufacturers. Here are the latest additions, with a tentative schedule for the weekend: SATURDAY MAY 15 Don and Beate Kingsley are arranging hikes and garden tours in the area, for family members who are looking for non-aircraft activities. Details have been posted on the www.raa.ca website. 8:00 - 11:00 Breakfast in the Rooftop Cafe to watch the arriving aircraft and manufacturers' displays. Confirmation has been received from Capital Airsports (Chinook), JK-05 Pathmaker, and Tecnam. 11:00 - 1:00 Brunch/Lunch in the Rooftop Cafe and on the deck. Sandwiches and beverages, all you can eat, catered by the Wiarton Girls' Soccer Club. $3.00 donation requested. 11:00 Dick Eaves' NexusMustang on display adjacent to the Cafe. Dick will be available to answer your questions about his award-winning aircraft. Keith Weston's gyrocopter will be on display on the apron. Have a look at the craftsmanship exhibited in this unusual flying machine. Arrival of Harvard from Canadian Harvard Association. Rides will be available. Sales of Harvard promotional items on the apron 1:00-3:30 RAA 2004 National AGM. National members who pre-register will receive a disc copy of AC 43-13 and Chapter 549 at sign-in. Members may pre-register at www.raa.ca . Presentation of RAA Canadian Manufacturer's Award to Dick Eaves Business meeting 3:30-4:30 Seminar by Dick Eaves on the design process and building techniques for the NexusMustang 4:30 Barbecue presented by Wiarton RAA. Chicken breasts or fish and chips, salads, dessert and beverage, all for $5.00. 6:00 Fuel up with Airport Manager Doug Sykes. Lowest price for 100LL in the province when you pay with cash, debit, or cheque. Overnight accommodation is available locally. Members and guests fly in for the day. Manufacturer's displays on the Apron . Manufacturers will be providing demo flights, as available. 11:00-noon. Brian Robinson will present a seminar on the conversion and installation of the Corvette engine in the SeaBee, and his new firewall forward package for the Murphy Moose. Noon-1:00 Lunch in the Cafe or chapter barbecue. TBA. 1:00-2:00 Jaime Alexandre of MD-RA will hold a technical seminar. Topic is "Preparing for your MD-RA Inspection." 2:00 and beyond. ![]() Here is the latest on the May 15-16 fly-in at Wiarton. Chapter President Brian Reis is the weather man at Wiarton and he is calling in favours so that we may have good flying weather for the weekend. Airport manager Doug Sykes is cutting us a deal on fuel for the weekend - 100LL at $1.00 per litre including taxes, for payment by cash, debit, or cheque. Our Wiarton chapter has worked hard to set up a good show for all of us, and you can't afford to miss this weekend. Great food, low-priced fuel, friendly airport management. Dick Eaves' Sun N Fun-winning Nexus Mustang will be on display, and Dick will give a seminar on his design. Brian Robinson will show his SeaBee and present a seminar on his Corvette engine installation. There is no admission charge for any of this. What more could a pilot-builder want! On Sunday we have combined a Transport and MDRA seminar into an event that will qualify for your two year recurrency. Wayne Juniper's seminar will be "Back to Basics - the Role of the Builder", and Jaime Alexandre's will be "Preparing for your Inspection". Recurrency stickers will be supplied for your pilot logbooks. PS. We still need the loan of a Powerpoint projector for Saturday.
