Currently flying a DG400 off a public airport with an asphalt surface. A Condor tire was on the bird when I go it.
Looking for recommendations for the best lasting 5.00-5 tire for asphalt. Michelin Air, Goodyear Flight Special II or Goodyear Special Custom III, or any other longer lasting tire. Thanks, Kevin 92 |

Thanks, Kevin 92 FWIW, there is an old guideline about aircraft tires which says it all depends on your use habits. If you wear out the tread first, buy the cheapest you can find since, by regulation, they all use the same tread compound. OTOH, if you let the aircraft sit until the sidewalls crack before you use up much of the tread, buy top quality tires such as Goodyear because they use the best sidewall material to resist weather checking. |

On a related question, how offend are you changing tires? Is is more mileage or time? My trailer gets maybe a thousand miles give or take a few hundred miles per year, and is a dual axle.

On my trailer I run Carllisle Special trailer tires recommended by a local shop that I trust very much. The 50 PSI and stiff sides are very helpful. I change them ever 6 years per recommendation of the shop. Kevin 92 |

My Stemme has Goodyear tires and, after about 85 landings, still look
new. I think I'll wear them out before the sidewalls crack.
