What are the entry requirements and how long may the glider stay in NZ? Any
costs for importing a US glider to NZ? Thanks, Tom # 711. |

Best advice: (1) FIRST, make arrangements with a NZ import agent well-versed in aircraft & trailers, (2) Check with the NZ equivalent of FAA on pilot, aircraft & instrumentation requirements and (3) check with NZ customs on any time limitations which may apply to the glider OR the trailer. (In the US, the trailer is a stickier wicket than the glider!) According to the International Flight Information Manual: Exportation of Aircraft, Cargo, and Other Articles. All U.S.-and foreign-registered aircraft departing the United States for foreign destination on a temporary sojourn must have export authorization. The two types of export authorization are a license exception for Aircraft and Vessels (AVS) and a license. Detailed information on both the license exception and the license can be obtained from: The U. S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Export Administration Exporter Counseling Division Washington, DC 20230 Telephone: (202) 482-4811 Facsimile: (202) 482-3617 Although most FAA guidance is geared toward aircraft flown into foreign countries, either or both of these links may help: http://www2.faa.gov/ats/aat/ifim/index.htm http://www2.faa.gov/ats/aat/ifim/ifimidx.htm Judy |

A bit more info please, I live in NZ and I am in the process of bringing
a glider in so I am reasonably current on requirements. Is this just temporary? Then re-export from NZ. How Long have you owned the glider before bringing it in? Is the glider on experimental or certified aircraft maintenance standards ? Is the glider fitted with a transponder ? (large amounts of airspace are transponder mandatory) gary "TomnKeyLargo" wrote in message ... What are the entry requirements and how long may the glider stay in NZ? The issue with length of time is to do with taxes ,if you have owned the
glider for a year then the glider is "personal baggage" and not taxable.Even if the IRD deem tax is payable (12.5%) When the glider is re-exported this can be claimed back. Re export is simple paperwork exercise, The issue with experimental is to do with service records and history acceptable to the Civil Aviation authorities to allow your glider to fly in NZ. Since you are going to the Omarama area I would email one of the operations there and get there input as they have some experience with exactly what you are proposing. www.GlideOmarama.com gary "TomnKeyLargo" wrote in message ...
