Tested lights after pulling trailer out of sheltered winter storage.
Taillights not working; turn and brake lights OK. No problem driving to field in daylight. Pulled out the meter and found 0V at the car end connector. No taillights on the car. Replaced fuse. Still no taillights on trailer, but 12+V at car connector. Opened up trailer connector. The taillight socket had been pushed in so that there was no contact with the pin on the car end. Removed wire and used Jorgensen clamp to bring socket back to face of connector. Found waxy residue, courtesy some small creature, in socket and removed with hand held drill bit. Hint: Tape over connector. Usually the hitch is covered, but something found its way in. Side Marker Bulb replacement found in local auto supply store. |
