Doing a electronic declaration for a 300/500k cross country flight is
it possible to have the starting point be "Release from Tow" or does that require a written declaration. I use the 302. |

Yes, the release point can be the start point, no written declaration is required, as the release point will be documented by the flight recorder (remember to notch, or make a tight 360 degree turn, and also make sure you don't release so high as to run afoul of the loss of height rules). Note, however, if you are attempting a triangle or out/return for Diamond goal, your start and finish points must coincide, which can be most easily accomplished by either releasing directly over the airport, or electronically declaring the same waypoint as start and finish.
