This is the 5th webinar in a series that focuses on a myriad of soaring topics ranging from soaring safety, off-field landing techniques, soaring weather, badge flying, setting up your glide computer, flying cloud streets and oh, so, so much more!

Each webinar in this series is presented by a different expert and takes place live every 1st Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm central time. For our August webinar we are thrilled to have Paul Remde, owner of Cumulus Soaring, as our presenter. Paul started soaring in 1990 and is a self-described “techie� who loves talking about soaring instruments. Paul holds all the FAI Badge legs for Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond badges — with the exception of the altitude gain legs (which are nearly impossible to obtain in Minnesota). He has flown in many contests, twice acted as Competition Director and Contest Manager, and has claimed 10 Minnesota state soaring records!

BTW, the main complaint against XCSoar is that it's not intuitive nor transparent in its abundant functions and options (hence the attempt at improvement as shown in the TopHat).

And it is totally untested for hardware it suppose to run. Tried twice to use XCSoar and both times found out that it does not support particular device I had (documents said it should).

Did you raise a bug report?

If not, why not, since your bug report may be the first they've heard of
the problem.

IMHO if you're going to use FOSS software rather than buying a commercial
package or writing your own, the least you should do is to report bugs
and suggest changes.

As a "beta boy" (internal field service) at my last company, bug reports are great. If they don't know you....
What hardware?
What OS and rev?
What was the issue?
Was it certain times (doing certain things, trying something in the software)?

My wife has also been doing software programming and support for decades, the more info you give, the better. Otherwise "let's play 20 questions"!

So, maybe.......PC, Windows 10, current updates, open software and do....... I get this, expected that.
Whatever.
