Call for Nominations to the U.S. Team Committee

Nominations for an open seat on the U.S. Team Committee are now being
solicited. All SSA members are eligible and encouraged to apply for
nomination with their SSA Regional Director. The U.S. Team Committee
oversees the affairs of the Soaring Society of America with respect to
its representation at Federation Aéronautique International (FAI)
approved World Gliding Championships. The six-member committee
includes the Contest Committee Chairman, the U.S. Team Chairman, the
SSA Executive Director, plus three members elected by the members of
the Soaring Society of America (SSA), each serving a three year term.
Note that current member Tim Welles' term is expiring and he plans to
run again

The election process is simple and nearly identical to that used for
the Rules Committee elections. Notice of the election is sent out to
the SSA membership, and nominations are accepted through SSA Regional
Directors who act as the nominating body. SSA members who wish to run
for the open seat on the Team Committee should contact their regional
director and request nomination. A list of Regional Directors can be
found at http://www.ssa.org under SSA Directors and requires an SSA
number to access.

Once nominated the open seat on the Team Committee will be filled by
the vote of the SSA membership. The term of the open seat is three
years. The Internet will be used for this voting and will be open to
all SSA members. The link to the online election site is

Deadline to receive Team Committee Nominations from the Regional
Directors is November 1, 2004. The Team Committee election will run
from November 15 to December 31 and the elected committee member will
take office on January 1. See the Team Committee web page to learn
