If we are at war, as the Government keeps telling us, then we need to
think of backup options, not killing off the one option that is cheap.
And because it is an NDB, it is not all that accurate at distance! No
more so than your local AM station.

The government does have the ability to turn off NDB & VOR if they think an
imminent attack on the US is probable. Google "SCATANA". (Security
Control of Air Traffic and Air Navagation Aids). You will find FAA order
7610.4 Special Military Operations. From what I've read, this dates back to
the 60's when there was a concern that the Soviet's could use our air
navigation aids to guide their missiles & bombers to the target.

SCATANA was partially invoked on 9/11 to order all civilian aircraft out of
the U.S. skies but NOT to also disable the air navigation aids. There is
