About 15 years back, I owned a 1976 C182. I had the engine remanufactured
and used cermichromed cylinders, which were relatively new back then. The rings seemed to seat pretty much immediately, as I remember, and oil use diminished from around 1 qt per 3 hours to none (or nearly so)! I was very happy. About a year later, I had to sell the plane (damnit!), and it was ferried off to Italy (double damnit!), so I was never able to follow up on its performance. What has been the history of cermichrome? Was it any good? Is it still used? Thanks, Harvey |
