Hi all - does anyone have any experience with cleaning seat belt webbing? I can remove the buckles from the webbing and was wondering if this material can be washed using a mild detergent like Woollite or similar.

I have washed many skydiving rigs. I use a tub of lukewarm (not hot) water and a little bit of Woolite to wash a harness/container system. Use a soft bristle brush, rinse very well and hang dry in a place where it will dry quickly. Woolite is the standard for jobs like this. This is how every rigger I have known does it.

You probably already know this, but just to be on the safe side: Avoid acidic cleaning agents like bleach.
Also be careful to avoid situations that might expose the webbing to battery acid. It's very bad for nylon. As others suggested, I wash my climbing ropes and other nylon soft gear with woolite. Were I to need to wash my seat belt webbing, that's how I'd do it. https://www.cmcpro.com/what-happens-...ts-on-my-rope/ --Bob K. |

![]() https://www.cmcpro.com/what-happens-...ts-on-my-rope/ Interesting web page. They said they ran strength tests after exposure to a nice assortment of stuff. But I don't see the test results? (I do like the design of the rope pull tester though ;-) |
