Do any of you tow guys out there know where to find a muffler for a CallAir A9-B?
I'm pretty sure the exhaust system is the same for either engine that came with the A-9B. It's probably the same for the A9-A as well, but I'm not sure. This particular airplane has a Lycoming IO-540-G1C5. |

Look in Trade-a-Plane for exhaust system specialists. If it’s not too bad it can probably be repaired. Is it an actual muffler or a shroud for carb heat and/or cabin heat?

Thanks guys. It's the muffler, or actually the common exhaust chamber that combines the left and right exhaust manifolds prior to the exhaust pipe. The exit pipe connection to the chamber is rusted through. Completely disconnected. The heat shroud (which no longer has any use) is in bad shape as well, but not unserviceable.
Besides Plane Exhaust, Aerospace Welding Minneapolis has been recommended. I've seen other modifications done to the exhaust systems of CallAir's. I don't think they were approved. David |
