For those of you flying in the SF Bay Area:
I was wondering about the logistics of doing a bay tour during the KFOG Kaboom fireworks show on the evening of May 21st. I would assume that there will be a TFR around the actual show, which is going on just south of the San Francisco side of the Bay Bridge. But I'm willing to bet that the show would be impressive from anywhere on the bay. Has anyone flown around during previous fireworks displays in the Bay Area? Is it cool? What sort of flight restrictions can I expect? |

True, although from the air one gets a real sense of the three-dimensionality of the blast (as one flies past it, the perspective changes even as it is bursting) Jose -- Get high on gasoline: fly an airplane. for Email, make the obvious change in the address. |

I'd agree with Dave. Fireworks don't generally go as high as you think
(usually a few hundred feet, maybe a couple thousand, I'd guess) so mostly you just lose them in the ground clutter of city lights. Better to do it from a good place on the ground.
