Just a bit off topic. As a long time soaring pilot I think this may be
of interest to the community. I am looking at purchasing some high value items ( yacht radar and instruments and a car navigation system ) I have done a bit of browsing on ebay in Europe and the US and there apears to be a flood of high value goods on offer from Chinese vendors at very good prices. A bit of investigation however uncovers a web of false references and other problems. Another clue is that the vendors only accept Western Union or bank draft payment. Be warned that these are scams. Ebay seems almost incapable of keeping up with the amount of bogus trading/trolling going on at the moment, I have exchanged emails with them and they have admitted that they are trying to keep up. Remember that if it looks too good to be true, it probably is! Ian |

![]() "bagmaker" wrote in message ... Can you not get software to do the car navigation with your gliding PDA? sure!..... I used TomTom street mapping software and even TomTom GPS to run both Vehicle Navigation and FlywithCE Glider navigation software with the same TomTom GPS without problems.both worked very well. You only have to be sure to fully exit each program before running the other..see : http://www.wingsandwheels.com/lx_nav...ies_for_ip.htm I also tried NavMan and it worked, but used different com port and different baud rate, it was not nearly as easy and the GPS receiver was poor and dropped out easily. I would not recommend Navman for this sue but I am certain there are several other Vehicle navigation GPS receivers and software that will also work...I just didn't try them. tim Wings & Wheels www.wingsandwheels.com |

I could, and have, used TomTom software on a PDA but to be honest PDA's
in a car are an untidy solution just asking for a brick through a window and a bit of 'light fingered shopping'. The TomTom and other similar solutions can be permanently mounted in a handy binnacle present in my vehicle and they also come on automatically when the car is started rather than having to mess about with starting them up every time. The top versions of TomTom units now have bluetooth connectivity to your mobile phone allowing them to act as proper car handsfree phone mic and speakers thus avoiding the £2000 fine applicable here in the UK for using a handheld mobile. Sorry for the OT post but its winter and I'm trying to avoid the regular PW5, ASW20, Spins and other regular threads ![]() |
