Need help with Narco LORAN LRN 840

I got an old NARCO LRN-840 LORAN-C that I want to reanimate. Sadly I
only got the unit itself, no manuals or cables. What I need is a pinout
of the rear card-edge connector and informations about what voltage it
requires etc. If someone has a manual as pdf or any other electronic
format it would be great if he'd mail that to me.

Thanks, but that doesn't help me much. I already did a search with
Google but sales ads for aircrafts that have such a LORAN device aren't
really helpful. And buying a manual for a price that is more than this
unit is worth is also not an option.

So if someone out there does have a Narco LRN-840 and a manual please
check out the connector pinout and post it here.

Nope, because in former such cases I only got an advise to ask the
manufacturer.

Actually, if you READ those google ads, you may notice that SOME are for
sales relating to the literature that you are looking for, not just
aircraft with them installed.

Eastern Avionics, in particular, will likely have what you are looking
for and email you a pinout for less than $20 total. Just in case nobody
happens to have a free copy laying around.

Also check out Ebay, GEBE's Estate Sale.. they have LOTS of old avionics
documentation and I have purchased several items from them in the past.
Again, the price may be quite reasonable (but not free...)

Well, if YOU had READ my posting you probably would have noticed that I
know that some are selling manuals...

Well, the unit is old and I even don't know if it's working, so 20$ +
shipping + tax (if you look at my email address you might notice that
I'm not in the US) is simply too much just to get the pinout of a few pins.

I'm not a member, and paying the membership for a ~20yr old LORAN unit
is hardly worth it.

I have an LRN-820, and the pinout may be the same. Looking at the back,
top row of pins (L to R) are 1-12; bottom are A-N. GND is H & J (there
is no I pin). +14/28v is pin 7. Use a multimeter to verify. GND will
be a dead short to the case. Measure +V in to GND: with multimeter set
on high resistance, turning switch on should cause the meter to show an
increasing resistance reading until an electrolytic capacitor fully
charges. Feed in +V thru a 2-3 amp fuse for insurance. Current draw on
the 820 is .5A at 14V; .25A at 28V.

It probably also requires an amplified antenna. Did you get a little
amplifier box which is inserted (near antenna end) in the coax to the
antenna?
