This is just a data point for those having problems with OLC files.
I last evening I downloaded a 4 hour flight logged at a 4 second intervals. The secure .igc file downloaded in 12 seconds. The VL took 45 seconds to 'calculate the key' before starting the download. The high-speed serial port card driver is set to auto-select the fastest bit rate without data corruption. The desktop computer is a 2.6 GHz Win XP machine. The file uploaded from SeeYou to OLC without a hitch. This is MUCH faster than last year using an old 450 MHz Win 98 machine with 1st generation serial ports. Bill Daniels |

Sure you can add a card to a notebook: a PC Card.
See, for example: http://www.pcconnection.com/ProductD...ourceID=k81092 These tend to work better than some of the USB-to-Serial adapters (we've found Belkin actually work). Hope this helps, Best Regards, Dave |

Yes, I was thinking about a pcmcia card, sure glad they started calling
them pc cards as I just couldn't remember all those letters! My new laptop has four USB ports, one pcmcia port, and no serial or floppy as they have been deemed obsolete now. I hadn't decided if I should use up my only pcmcia card port or one of the many USB's. So the Belkin pcmcia serial card works well, or did you mean a Belkin USB to serial adaptor? I need to use it for my volkslogger and for my LX5000. But as I have interest in records once I get the new laptop serial adaptor up and running I need to see if the new SeeYou higher speed upload capability will pass the igc securty test. I appreciate the help. John |
