I need to re-do my MontJet numbers after, once again, looking at these
Spectrum 33 numbers: Stick with me here THIS IS FUN!!! http://www.spectrum.aero/downloads/competitive_analysis.pdf Competitive analysis Spectrum 33 vs. other Jets. 2 engines and... "4 passengers, NBAA IFR Reserves" [300 nm] 617 lbs. is 84.1 gal ....0+53 (53 min) = 99.6 gph [600 nm] 688 lbs. is 98.3 gal ...1+41 (101 min) = 58.2 gph [1000 nm] 1,096 lbs. is 156.6 gal ....2+50 (170 min) = 55.2 gph [1,600 nm] 1,647 lbs. is 235.3 gal ....4+35 (275 min) = 51.6 gph http://www.ainonline.com/Issues/12_05/12_05_spectrum_1.htm Using the numbers in this link, I created The MontJet. Single place, single engine MontJet: Wing .........................45 lbs Fuselage ..................45 lbs Jet engine ..............200 lbs? Everything else ........60 lbs MontJet Empty Wt .350 lbs (Double the Empty Weight of the Cri-Cri) Spectrum 33 (8-10 passenger) Jet: From the (above) link that you just read g. Single piece wing .............305 lbs Fuselage ............................309 lbs Engine ................................290 lbs (each) Williams FJ33-4A [1,568 pound-thrust] (each) From the Competitive Analysis link: Fuel burn is [roughly] 26-28 gph per engine (FL450) Weights from this (Specs) link - more MontJet below... http://www.spectrum.aero/downloads/m...elim_specs.pdf Gross Takeoff Weight ............7,300 lbs. Empty Weight ..........................3,620 lbs. Useful Load .............................3,680 lbs. Maximum Fuel .........................2,771 lbs. Maximum Payload ..................2,000 lbs. [MontJet again] MontJet Empty Weight [under]..........362 lbs (x10) Spectrum 33 Empty Weight .........3,620 lbs MontJet ...........(1x) something a little smaller @ 20 gph Spectrum 33 ...(2x) FJ33 engines/56 gph (combined) MontJet ...........(1x) FJ33 engine/25 gph (guessing) [MJ] ....20 gph x 4 hrs + 1 hr reserve = 100 gallons/ 700 lbs fuel [S33] ..56 gph x 4 hrs + 1 hr reserve = 280 gallons/ 1,960 lbs fuel MontJet: (450 kts/FL450) Empty Weight ............350 lbs Fuel (4 hrs + 1 hr).......700 lbs Pilot + stuff .................250 lbs MTOW .....................1,300 lbs (x5.62) Spectrum 33: (415 kts/FL450) MTOW .....................7,300 lbs That's it. Those are my numbers. With (4 hrs + reserve) full fuel, my MontJet would be almost 6x lighter than the S-33 on takeoff. It's a single seat aerodynamic (20 gph) bullet. It's a human attached to a jet engine. Anyway, I think there's a market for this - especially if the speed stays around 400 kts and the gph number drops with a new/smaller engine. I'll stick with 20 gph for now. Spectrum 33 is claiming 26-28 gph for each of their two engines, so I'm in the ballpark! (15 gph at FL45 would be better) I'd like a smaller version of HondaJet's current (392 lb) engine - one of the articles said the FJ33 is basically just a smaller version of the Williams FJ44. The FJ33's = 290 lbs Understood that Honda and Williams are two different type of jet engines. Montblack Deposits welcome Heading out tonight to see: World's Fastest Indian (...inspiration) http://www.heightstheater.com/ They play organ music before each show on an original movie-house organ. The organ (and the organist) rise up from the pit, in front of the screen. Theater was built in 1926, one year before "talkies" hit it big. g |
