Bill Fox (the retired Lockheed Skunkworks project coordinator who was
in charge during the development of the SR-71 Blackbird) has generously
volunteered to give his 1-hour Blackbird presentation in our new
theater at the inn on Tuesday, May 30th, at 7 PM. His talk will be
followed by Bill's very special "home video" about the Blackbird, and a
question & answer period.

(FYI: After leaving the Skunkworks, Bill went on to run the notorious
"Area 51" in Nevada, and -- I believe it's safe to say -- he knows as
much about the super secret operations at Groom Lake as any living
American.)

Bill donated ALL of the cool artwork and memorabilia (including a real
SR-71 pitot-static probe!) in our "Blackbird Suite," and if you have
ANY interest in this ultimate aircraft, you will find him to be a
fascinating speaker. I have spent hours chatting with him, and never
once ran out of questions!

Because we only have room for 25 in the theater, we will be taking
reservations for seating. (There is no charge to hear his talk, of
course.) As thanks to all of you for all your help over the last three
years, the first 5 seats will be set aside ONLY for
rec.aviation.piloting readers!

Bill is in his 80's now, and I suspect he won't be giving these talks
forever. Email me directly at if you wish to

No doubt! I'll bet that if you contact the university - school of
broadcasting, there would be more than a few students that need to do a
video project, and could come out to tape the whole thing - with a couple HD
cameras, fancy microphones, and mixers, and make a nice dvd out of it. It
couldn't hurt to ask!

If not, set up a camera and let it run.

You will need to get a cordless mic for the hotel, for presentations and
such, so go out and get one to pass around for questions, and one for the
speaker.

More toys to buy! Fun, fun! g

A couple of months ago I was fortunate enough to hear one of the P&W
engineers speak that helped design the J58 for the SR-71. A very
charismatic man and great speaker - it was definitely a treat. I'd
imagine this man will also have a great presentation. Please record it
for us!!

The guys over at www.studentpilot.com might be able to help as well. A
few there (e.g. "PaulThomas" have some dedicated server space).

Streamed or not (live or "memorex"), putting it on DVD might be
an extra enticement for r.a.p. folks to drop by and pick one up
sometime. And I'm sure some of us (like me) would be happy
to pay the appropriate shipping and handling for a DVD in the
mail. I'm not sure when I'll be back in the area.

you can mail me a copy of the disc and I can convert it and ut in on my or
your server.
but you may also aks around at your local school or university (as somebody
mentioned before).

just be sure to split the file in some pieces and describe the content of
each piece.
