While I was down because of surgery I had the mechanic put
in nulites on the six-pack, the clock, and the suction gauge
(the turn coordinator was already lit). Tonight was the first
night I got to fly at night and these nulites beat the red
overhead light every which way. way cool

Highly recommended for airplanes without instrument
lights or post lights.

Bob,
Sorry, I can't remember what airplane you have.

I'm wondering if your A&P had to trim the instrument holes of the panel to
get them fitted properly. I recently talked with a mechanic that was
installing them in a C206 and he had to trim the instrument holes slightly
to fit them. His comment to me was "if they tell you these things just pop
right in, tell them they're nuts!" When he was finished, the install looked
great, but he showed me how they held the instruments back too far unless he
trimmed the holes.

Agreed, they are nice, but way overpriced for what you are getting.

My $14.00 Rayovac head lamp on the red leds is fine. Actually a little
too bright. If needed I can turn on the white led.

White light is even brighter... two white LED's vice one red LED.

Cherokee 140 (I should have mentioned that originally)

Nope. He did need to trim one of the nulites

I've been very happy with my nulites which we installed about 5 years
ago.

If you find this works well as your primary light system, I suspect you
don't do a lot of night in a complex plane. Since your light follows
your head scanning in IMC would be difficult.

We had to trim them all in the Mooney. The instruments are very close
together and would have hit each other if we did not trim.
