A little humor? I can't vouch personally for this story, but it was told to
me by a pilot as the truth, and does have a humorous tint. It was during the slow-down by the controllers at the major terminals - that was when? - the early '60's? - at Chicago O'Hare. Planes were stacked up waiting to depart, jockeying for position, and tempers were warm in the cockpits. It's assumed that in his confusion some guy dropped his mike, and in his grappling to recover it, he accidently depressed the button and he was heard to say, " Man! I'm all f-ed up!" Immediately the tower demanded "Who said that! What's your number!" There was a long period of absolute silence, from everybody, and a quiet voice piped up, "I ain't THAT f-ed up!" |
