Home Depot is refreshing its tool displays and one of the things they are
eliminating is assembled versions of their "big boy" tools like tablesaws, big bandsaws, drill presses, etc. In the future, you'll be able to look at a picture of the assembled tool, and if you want to buy the tool, your first opportunity to see an assembled version is when you put it together in your shop. Anyway, what this means to us is that they are trying to clear their old demo tools off of their showroom floors. I was at one location yesterday where they had already sold out of the demo models, but was at another store today and all of the large tools (primarily the woodworking stuff) on floor display were 20% off for the display model. I spoke to the store manager and got another 10% off by buying both their 15" Ridgid Drill Press and the 14" Ridgid bandsaw. By the way, both of these tools have done well in tool comparisons in several popular woodworking magazines. So, if you hurry to your local orange box, you might find similar deals. A side note: The stores here in the Atlanta area are not running the 50% off deal on one purchase if you sign up for a business account. Yet another side note: If go in a Home Depot between now and Friday and happen to see an item you like that has a blue inventory sticker on it, that means something very special. That item will be deeply discounted on the Friday after Thanksgiving... A crafty purchaser might even find a way to use that to his or her advantage between now and Friday, particularly on limited stock items. KB |
