Default Seeking twice monthly air ride between N. San Diego area and Bakersfield CA

I'm a little fearful of small planes; my dad had one and he was a real
amateur and showoff. We had some close calls with death when I was a
child and I haven't been up in a small plane since those years.

But I drive between the north San Diego area and Bakersfield Ca about
twice a month and am falling asleep at the wheel. I can't take chances
anymore. So I'm trying to find someone with their own plane who makes
this flight or who would like to make such a flight once or twice a
month with no definite continuous commitments.

My dad had a hard time finding company to fly with him and I don't
know if that's a common difficulty, but if you find it to be true for
you and would like some company and fly this route, I would learn to
enjoy the ride. (My son is starting pilot lessons in LA but he won't
have a plane for some time).

Anyway, I would be happy to pay for the gas if it's not too awfully
high, but I can't afford charter rates.

I'm female, 51, balanced conversation and a good listener. I'm a
private tutor and I go back and forth to tutor students.

Email for my contact information if you might be interested in trying
a trip with me.

Two things I should point out he
1. If the pilot wasn't actually going to be making the trip for
themselves, then taking you on this trip for gas money would be likely to
be seen by the FAA as performing an illegal charter. The FAA really
frowns on people who aren't Part 135 (Charter) operators taking people for
flights unless you can prove that you would have done the flight even if
the person wasn't coming along.

2. I'm probably not alone in being very reluctant to want to take up
somebody who is "a little fearful of small planes" or "would learn to
enjoy the ride". That sounds like a prime candidate for a freak-out or
for barfing on the upholstery.
