Default TUS or RYN?

Does anyone have a recommendation for which field and FBO to use at Tucson?
Will be there about four days in a Saratoga.

I always used TUS. I usually avoid the regional GA airports because
rental cars aren't reliable enough. I bet if you call Ryan you'll find
that their rental cars are sent over from TUS. 25% chance when you
land at RYN they'll put you in a van and try to drive you to TUS to
get your car. The service at TUS city FBO is one of the best in the
country and prices are very, very reasonable. I pay less at TUS for
full service gas than I pay for self-service in California. When you
land they'll drive up in a golf cart full of free beverages.

Is that the Tucson Executive Terminal? I don't find one listed on the AOPA
directory by the name of TUS city FBO. At Ryan, there is the Tucon Airport
Authority, which seems to dominate the field, with tiedowns at the base of
the tower, and the only fuel listed on the field.

Yes, its the Executive Terminal. To be honest I've never been to Ryan,
my experience is based on general experiece with rental cars at GA
airports. The FBO is so good at TUS there really isn't much reason to
go to Ryan unless its closer to your appointment. TUS handles GA,
airline, and military (reserve) aircraft with ease. I fly with my
family so waiting for a rental car isn't very pleasant. In general, if
I fly into a GA airport 10 times, at least 2 of those times the rental
car will be messed up. At least at the Intl airport it only takes 10
minutes for them to bring to car over. The airport at TUS is a great
model for integrating lots of types of aviation without hassle.

I have to second Robert's point in a general way. If at all possible,
use the major airport in meduim sized cities unless fees are crazy.
Cars, hotels, late night service, all of those things are more likely
to be right at hand. There's another aspect of this as well -- the
service is often geared towards G2 and Leers, and they don't know how
to treat those of us who fly SEL differently. It's nice to be king.
