This is the situation with those famous ekranoplans. They are in town
of Kaspisjsk now. I must go there to photograph them! :-) This attachment is a prototype SM-6. |

I am an old cold warrior, involved more frequently than I probably should
have been, in the issue of this "Caspian Sea Monster" as we described it from the first overhead photography we had of its construction and testing. What a delight to see these shots, so many years later, and to recall how things used to be. Thank you! |

Found all three pictured here I believe, and some hovercraft as well. There are a lot of spellings of that particular city name, made the search somewhat interesting... - Al. -- To reply, insert dash in address to separate G and I in the domain |

These things captured my imagination in childhood and I had a dream to build my own 4-seater WIG, but limited myself with building paper model of it :-) I wish one day these ekranoplans will make its way to a museum. BTW, Lun', as it says on the web site, can be made flyable again! |
