![]() How to build hours without cost: PSSSST: WANNA BUY A PILOT? Finding a good pilot is always one of the more formidable challenges aircraft operators have. Of course, the converse is true: Finding a decent piloting job at a trustworthy company can be harder than the flight training necessary to do the flying. One enterprising Norwegian pilot is trying to use the popular Internet auction site eBay to widen his job search (http://cgi.ebay.com/One-1-Pilot-Male...QqcmdZViewItem) and, hopefully, snag a flying job. The pilot, with the eBay ID of "jonas_tind," is auctioning "unlimited use of a male pilot (27) for one year." According to the auction, he so far has earned his FAA commercial pilot certificate and an instrument rating and has logged 350 hours total time. He's also type-rated in the Beech/Raytheon 1900 B/C/D. http://www.avweb.com/eletter/archive...ll.html#195161 With his auction's $1.00 starting price, it's easy to see that he'll be performing his piloting and "other things" for the price of a (one-way?) airline ticket, 50 hours flight time per month, and room and board: You are bidding on unlimited use of a male pilot (27) for one year Hi and welcome to this auction. I am auctioning my services as a pilot away to the highest bidder, what the winner gets is unlimited use of me as a pilot for one year. The winning bid will be my salary for the whole year in the winners service. Will go to anywhere in the world the winner requires. Except for the winning bid, the winner have to pay for shipping (the airlineticket [sic] from Norway to whereever [sic] the winner wants me), and accomodation [sic] througout [sic] the year in the winners service. And also a guarantee of aprox. 50 flying hours per month. In other words; potentially, depending on the bidding, a very cheap pilot-service!! This is [sic] my qualifications as a pilot: Certificates: FAA Commercial License MEL / Instrument ME First Class Medical Norwegian CAA BSL ATPL written Hours: 350 H Total Time 80 H Multi-E. Time 70 H Instr. Time 255 H PIC Time Beech 1900 B/C/D Type-rated Referrences [sic] and documentation on request. Remarks: I have a unrestricted Norwegian passport. But I will require a work permit if necessary. And when I am not flying, I am usefull [sic] for other things too. I wonder if this item he purchased is for his tongue or someone else's. "Other things" indeed. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=140103456439 GENUINE PEARL TONGUE BARBELL RING BODY JEWELRY *CLASSY* (#140103456439) |
