Who the f--k cares, this is an aviation newsgroup, not a biography
newsgroup. Joe. On Sun, 20 May 2007 19:03:12 +0200, DAN wrote: For all his accomplishments in the Spirit of St Louis, Charles Lindbergh is also one of the vilest *******s of his time. A long time ago I gave up on expecting people who do unusual things to be
politically correct. "DAN" wrote in message ... For all his accomplishments in the Spirit of St Louis, Charles Lindbergh is also one of the vilest *******s of his time. His accomplishments make him a hero! His failings make him human!

If having high moral and ethical standards is the definition of "politically correct" then I'll take it. Lindbergh was a fine aviator but a man of marginal integrity. Saying "his failings make him human" lets him off the hook too easily. Forgetting to zip up one's fly is a human failing; being a Nazi-sympathizing bigot and cheating on one's wife is something else altogether. -- One is always considered mad when one perfects something that others can not grasp.*- Ed Wood |

There are a lot of people who think that Lindbergh's son was not kidnapped but driven to Kansas to live out his life with an adapted family because he had a deformed foot that did not fit with Lindbergh ideas of a pure race. The family will not give up DNA to this person to prove his case. If It was ever proven to be true what does that make him. |

Human and wrong, but his actions still make him a hero.

You can also add to that his work in the Pacific theatre with P-38 pilots on
fuel management that helped them get more range and improve their chances of making it back from those long over water missions. Flying several missions and being unofficially credited with downing a couple Jap planes. These actions and those in the "Spirit" make him a hero, a flawed one but still a hero! His personal failings were many but despite them I will always admire what he did in the air and give it the proper respect. Silly you, no. Condescending, maybe! Entitled to your opinion, absolutely "Pat" wrote in message ... Hub & Diane Plott wrote: Human and wrong, but his actions still make him a hero.
