....to almost unbearable levels!
We've received word that several far-flung friends have already departed their home bases, en route to Oshkosh (via Iowa City). I'll be putting "Welcome EAA Pilots" up on the big sign out front, the pool are is just about ready for the party tomorrow, the beer and food is ordered, and we've started hauling our camping stuff to the hangar. Tonight we'll pack Atlas, tomorrow we'll party all day long (with guys and gals from all over America), and then -- it's off to the Big One in Oshkosh! God almighty, for those of you who have never been able to attend Airventure, you've simply got to do it...someday. This will be our 25th in a row, and all of us (including our surly teenagers) are as excited as kids going to Disneyworld! :-) See you there! -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

I'm sitting here in Appleton at 4 PM on Friday the 20th, and it's 73 degrees
and pleasantly low humidity. It's been like this all week, simply marvelous weather. It's a shame the Airventure wasn't this week, because the weather prognosticators are saying it's going to be in the upper 80s to low 90s and very humid all next week, just in time for the big show. They're also saying there is a very slight chance of rain for Monday evening, and dry the rest of the week, though the Weather Channel online 10-day forecast says there could be thunderstorms next Saturday and Sunday. So all you folks coming on up, be prepared for some warm and humid weather, and plenty of sun. Scott Wilson |

The whole weekend is predicted to be stunningly beautiful -- PERFECT for flying into OSH on Sunday! -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

I share your excitement, and wish I were able to see you there, but it looks like my ride has fallen through. I'll have to shoot for next year, and I WILL be there, no matter what. So, tilt a cold one (or three) for me. Those of you with network connection abilities while you are at "The Big One" be sure to keep all of us at home apprised as to the "goings on" during the week. like my ride has fallen through. Dammit, Jim -- that sucks. Can't you con ANYONE in your local EAA chapter to let you split the gas with them? -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

Can't you con ANYONE in your local EAA chapter to let you split the gas with them? I'm not heart-broken, this year. Lots happening, from job changes trying to be shoved down my throat (that I need to be around to keep an eye on), my mom with a compression fractured vertebrae needing extra help, my own back a hurting mess, jobs around the house that even _I_ want to be done and over, to.... You get the idea. Just not a good year for OSH, as much as I want to be there. I'm OK with it, this time. Next year, I'll make it back. -- Jim in NC |
