let's assume the threat is small arms fire up to moderate caliber
shells - no major hardware. is it: -main rotor and associated machinery? -turbines? -tail rotor and associated machinery? -something else? is there one or a couple areas disproportionately at risk? or are they pretty much evenly vulnerable? |

Keith Judging from what I read here,http://www.dtic.mil/ndia/aircraft/6.pdf the folks involved in this discipline would like to have their efforts more in the forefront. Recent events suggest survivability is a back burner issue until bad things happen. Here are some more links: http://jas.jcs.mil/ http://www.dtic.mil/ndia/aircraft The finer points of "Survivability" "Susceptability" and "Vulnerabilty" could well use some greater understanding and attention all up and down the food chain. Specific to helicopters each of these newsletters has some articles that you may find ineteresting(these are slow to load): http://jas.jcs.mil/news/newsletter_2002_spring.htm http://jas.jcs.mil/news/newsletter_2001_summer.htm http://jas.jcs.mil/news/newsletter_2000_summer.htm |
