Hi the
Comcast has notified me that they will cease as of Oct 25, 2008 to carry all and any of the newsgroups. They have offered a continuation via a third party. The price for this, is unknown to me at this time. I also know that Comcast will not reduce it's bill for me due to it's discontinuation of this valuable service. I will miss all the posts, the photos, the comments, etc from this group. Until that time, take care all Jacques Guay |

Up until about five days ago, I was supplementing it with the (almost) free Teranews, but there have been no headers added lately. Hope it's just temporary. |

Support has been good the few times I had questions ... http://www.forteinc.com/apn/index.php Lots of other options available, depending on how much you d/l on average each month ... I'm sure there are more sites than the ones I'm going to list: http://www.newsgroupservers.net/ http://www.geeks.org/~ed/Usenet_Servers.html http://docs.newzbin.com/index.php/Usenet:ISP_Providers http://www.newsgroup-binaries.com/ https://www.supernews.com/signup/ - shows the various packages and pricing. If you need LOTS of retention, you'll most likely pay more ... if not, you should be able to find a relatively inexpensive news service ... Check home pages for up-to-date pricing, some give a free trial, ask in alt.binaries.news-server-comparison ... just ignore the garbage that you might see there ... Sj |

Sj I have the 5.95/5GB/Month package from Supernews. Have had it for several months now, and have not experienced any downtime or lag at all. Seems to be a pretty decent service. -- Our website is http://myweb.cableone.net/okieman7 |
