route within at maximum one or two hours to a nearest airport, flying all possible islands to do this. Can someone tell where i can find more information about this ? thanks for any response roel depends on the certification of the aircraft and country, the u.s. (I'm not an expert btw) uses whats called "ETOPS" - basically in case of an engine out failure it will have enough power to safely land so many minutes from it's flight path. This changes between 4 engine aircraft and 2 engine aircraft (777 must fly closer to land due to ETOPS than a 747 ect) plus also the U.S. and other countries charge a fee for any aircraft that doesn't originally takeoff and land within the u.s. so international airlines usually steer clear of overflying other countries to avoid costs of flying in their airspace unless it's been set up and negotiated. to answer your question I think the FAA would have it on their website (all that information i'm sure) http://www.faa.gov Matthew |
