Default Low Altitude Wave

I shot this out my window here in Hood River, Oregon, USA, looking
SE. Our winds are usually from the opposite direction all summer, but
in the winter the surface wind is reversed and we get this low level
wave. Not too impressive but I thought some of you might be
interested. We can get to about 5K in this most times, but I got to
20K once in these east wind conditions.

Cool time lapse.

Boulder, CO has what the locals call the "28th Street Wave" which
forms about 1/2 mile west of the airport over downtown Boulder. It
can be contacted at pattern altitude and sometimes reaches 13K or
enough to press westward to the secondary wave off the Continental
Divide and thence to the primary wave. Flights above FL450 have been
made that way.
