I tried to post a correction on my old Netto post, but the thing kept
giving me an *error* message. Anyway, this is what I tried to say: A real vario during cruise will show mostly DOWN with a 3 knot thermal being displayed as going from DOWN 600 to DOWN 300. A pure netto vario will show mostly UP with a 3 knot thermal being displayed as going from zero to say UP 600, but the sink rate of the ship (at cruise speed) must be subtracted to give UP 300. A relative netto vario will go from say zero to UP 300 and that means you are in a 3 knot thermal and if you slow down to thermal speed, you should achieve a 3 knot climb. Cheers, JJ |
