Additional note: the material I am looking for may infact be "Inconel" 713. Martin Sorry, can't help with the Inconel, but I would love to see what you are building! Are you sure 718 won't do for your job? |

Check model aircraft jet emgines. A number are made in UK. Also I believe some are kit built. You didn't say the size of engine you are building but some of these model engines go up to 50 lbs thrust and may be derated to get down to that thrust level???. If you contact the companies who manufacture these jet engines they may be able to help you find a source of metal for your project if they don't have? All the best. Sorry Martin, I've got a confession to make, I actually put this question on for my father-in-law who is the one actually building the engine as a retirement project. He doesn't have a computer so I searched the internet for him but couldn't find anything. Then I said to him that I would try an appropriate Google group and get back to him if I got any replies. It seemed easier to pose the question as if it was my project than to explain the actual situation. I think I persuaded him, though, of the usefulness of having access to the internet because he is planning to buy his own computer and go online himself in the not too distant future. Martin |
