Anyone have comments or experiences with this French-kit aircraft?
"http://www.skyranger.net/page28.html" (English language page) "http://www.greenlandings.com/index.html" (apparently US distributor) Inexpensive and claimed build-time is short. No welding. I'm especially interested because I can't get an Airman's Certificate (take medication) so hope "Sport Pilot" certication will be available. |

Hi Sue,
Why hope for the Sport class when you could build the Europa Long wing and fly with a motorglider endorsment within the current rules..... as few already are - one such pilot is Dave Anderson as was published in a recent issue of Kitplanes Magazine (see http://www.europa-aircraft.com/Bulle...letinBoard.htm and scroll down the page). 140 knots up high ain't bad. Cheers, Pete Europa build A239 (with both long and short wings) "sue sanchez" wrote in message om... Anyone have comments or experiences with this French-kit aircraft? hi sue , I know them quite well, I built two of them
it is a "sky jeep" , dont expect it to look like a mooney, but is extremely fast to build, the whole plane is done within one month with two guys working 10h a day, and flies reasonably well: kind of plane you need to "pilot " (you need your feet busy) but cruising is 120km/h with rotax 582 or 140km/h with rotax 912, in Europe it is used a lot in training like cessna 152, will stand easily 2000h on airframe without any worry. we normally fly them with Rotax 582 or 912, if you managed to hear about people having some experience with Jabiru engine let me know , it might be th engine for my third sky ranger... martin "sue sanchez" a écrit dans le message news: ... You kinda have to wonder if a lot of attention to this loophole will
cause the FAA to close it. Yeah, "loophole"; that's what it looks like to me. (Not that I'd like to see it closed by any means.) I generally agree with you Paul,
But I wonder how they would close it, without causing much grief in the existing and entrenched Soaring community. I'm not sure how they would differentiate between a Europa Long wing and a Stemme, or a DG, or Grob etc. in the regs. The Europa does quite well as a legitmate low--medium performance soaring machine 200ft/min sink and L/D ~27/1 Cheers, Pete "Paul Folbrecht" wrote in message nk.net... Try this:
http://www.sonex-ltd.com/motorglider_definition.html Tony wrote in message ... There was a thread a couple of months ago on what differentiatied a motorglider from a regular airplane with a good L/D. IIRC there is a reference somewhere in the FAA docs to maximum spanloading, but it wasn't conclusive, especially for a homebuilt. The Europa long wing is a terrific airplane. For sport pilot class, look at the RANS products. It's hard enough building a kit, doing it with product support on the other side of the world makes it harder. And I'm boycotting the French. I'm also put off by their claim that their construction method is patented. In article , Pete says...
