Default San Diego TFR, Nov 2003

So the pres came to town today to tour the fire damage we had
recently. Eating lunch outside I saw Air Force One take off, it
definitely did not use the standard departure. It's nice to know that
SD traffic was shutdown so the president didn't have to look in the
paper to see the damage (and kiss babies).

Presidential and Vice Presidential TFRs are an obvious boondoggle:

A special notice to AOPA members in and near Southern California

== ATTENTION PILOTS ==

TFRs EXPECTED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TOMORROW
AOPA is sending this message to advise pilots in and near Southern
California that the FAA is expected to issue notams restricting flight
in the state during President Bush's announced visit to view wildfire
damage there.

According to the "Los Angeles Times" and The Associated Press, Bush
will travel to California on Tuesday, November 4, to view the fire
damage. The president has designated Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San
Diego, and Ventura counties as disaster areas. Based on previous
presidential travel, AOPA anticipates a notam that will establish
large temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) limiting general aviation
flight. However, no notams had been issued as of 11 a.m. Pacific time
on Monday. AOPA will post the notam on AOPA Online
(
http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html ) as soon as possible
after it is issued.

Pilots planning operations in the area should be aware that TFRs for
the president's visit will be in addition to several TFRs currently in
effect because of continuing firefighting operations in Southern
California.

The AOPA Air Safety Foundation has prepared a handy card that provides
the intercept procedures that could save your life, since military
pilots have shoot-down authority. Download the card from AOPA Online
( http://download.aopa.org/epilot/2003/intercept.pdf ), learn the
information carried on it, and carry it with you when you fly. ASF
alsohas an online course for navigating in today's complex airspace
environment called "Know Before You Go"

Enjoy the freedom to fly while it lasts.

And the Denver airspace will be under TFR later this week for
Cheney.

Buckley AFB is within the 5 mile ring of DEN. Wonder if they'll
be shut down too.

Do have any information on the size of the vice presidential TFR?
