Well, it appears that Bill did not get a good response to his question 14 years ago. Has the state of science improved to the point that removing the tongue from the trailer is now a feasible endeavor? I have the same problem as Bill and could use some RAS tips... Thanks!

IIRC, the only additional thing I had to do was to spray a fair amount of penetrating oil into the sleeve (using the holes where the two bolts were located) and applying some significant torque to twist the whole thing out. Time may have dulled my memory a bit on the exact details, but I do recall it being "intuitively obvious" (i.e. no crazy, hidden stuff). |

My 1985 Komet has two big U bolts that clamp down on the outer tube that the tongue assembly slides into. You can purchase a replacement tongue from Anschau for
around 559 Euro's.
