Taken from an on line news article, but I've removed the name of the pilot.
Pilot NNNNNNNN was flying his personal plane from North Carolina to his Florida home when he decided to fly over his house and saw something unusual. "He observed a silver truck with white camper in his driveway and lowered his altitude to get a closer look," the Charlotte County Sheriff's office said in a news release. "He saw a man looking into the windows of his home then attach his red trailer and pull out of his driveway." NNNNNNNN called the police and then began following the thief in his plane. The runaway trailer was located by authorities who stopped the robber at a traffic stop. Gary Robert Haines, 59, of Stafford, Va., was arrested and charged with grand theft, police said. By then, NNNNNN had landed his plane and came to the scene to get his trailer back. Police found a loaded rifle and bullets inside of Haines' pickup truck, the report said. Haines was taken to Charlotte County jail and released on Monday on $2,500 bond. Authorities are still investigating the theft and the weapons that were found in the pickup. NNNNN did not respond to request for comment. |

Vaughn I usually depart either to the south, or west, and in the course of intercepting a radial it's convenient enough for me to tip a wing left (heading west), or tip right (heading south) momentarily at 2800 ft. just to do a quick glimpse. The only "turns about a point" I'd execute over the house is for showing my passenger where I live while testing out a plane. Otherwise, like you, I go where I'm going. --- Mark |

We were discussing how to call in a crime from an aircraft not how to load lard I want to take this opportunity to apologize for my failed attempt to implement humor into the discussion. I also want to apologize for my incorrect spelling of that doughnut establishment. In my own defense, I don't eat there and it was merely an oversight. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me for these egregious errors. Please know that I have taken a black magic marker and notated your name on the wall next to my computer... "do not attempt humor, and check spelling of restaurants before replying". I can only hope that this remedy will suffice and I will never make these mistakes again. Please accept my apology and know that I take full responsibility for this fiasco. -- Mark |
