A short clip from where I work; Sundance Aviation, Moriarty, NM, USA.
Notice there's no zip, no wow, no horrible, pounding "music", just the serene nature of the sport. I wish more soaring videos were of similar quality. http://vimeo.com/76386916 OBTW, I was flying the Pawnee that day. |

A great video.
It looks like you use something covered in duct tape to avoid knots in the tow rope. We are always looking for a better way and to find something durable and would be curious what you use. |

Those are "protectors", made from plastic water bottles wrapped with duct
tape. The intent is to keep the splices and rings from dragging on the ground and wearing out. They work great but, if the tug lands within 200 ft of the threshold of the runway, the protector sometimes catches on the edge of the pavement and gets pulled off. We keep several weak links made up with protectors installed. "RN" wrote in message ... A great video. It looks like you use something covered in duct tape to avoid knots in the tow rope. Moriarty is on my short list of places I want to fly. It is great that you have a seven day operation.
But why did you edit out the scene where the guy up front cuts off his beard, and the guy in the backseat bails out? |

Those scenes might have negative influence on prospects.
Note that, beginning this week, Moriarty is a five (5) day per week operation. We're closed Mondays and Tuesdays through the winter and, IIRC, reopen for seven (7) day operation in April. Note further that, with prior coordination, you can get a tow any time. Rick (the owner) tows me whenever I want and it seems that the good wave days are on Mon/Tue. I also heard a couple of days ago that we will be submitting a bid for another contest in 2014. No further details yet. "son_of_flubber" wrote in message ... That video is fantastic, I loved every second of it. Thanks for making something positive for the sport!
