I'm flying into Henderson (HND) on the evening of 5/21. I need to get
to McCarren to pick up a rental car from Hertz since the neighborhood Hertz locations will be closed by then. Is there a shuttle that runs from HND to LAS? I'm planning on calling a taxi, but always appreciate a cheaper option. After all, I spend all my money on flying! ![]() Thanks in advance, Jeff Lundberg |

I'm sure there is no local shuttle, taxi is best unless a local that lives
near Henderson offers a ride.. as for my self I'm on the other end of town, VGT (there were car rental agencies at VGT) and I'll be out of town working on my CFIG BT "Jeff Lundberg" wrote in message ink.net... Especially in locales where there is simply no large airport to host a rental car office, I have had great success having the rental agency drive out to pick me up at my destination airport. This has worked for me in Spokane, WA. Astoria, OR, Tillamook, OR, and Fort Collins, CO, to name most of the places I can think of where I've asked. I've never had a rental agency refuse to come pick me up. In Spokane and Fort Collins, there are actually other airports that do have rental offices, but I happened to be flying into less-used airports without. You might call the offices at McCarren, and see if any are amenable to doing that. If you're dead-set on Hertz, that does limit your options. But if you're willing to shop around, I'd bet at least one agency would be willing to pick you up. Pete |

If you're *really* cheap and the Hertz deal is *really* good, I s'pose you might want to try to get a free shuttle/taxi to a casino and then catch a shuttle to LAS. --kyler |

I've found that the difference between rentals at small airports and airports large enough to have a car rental desk is often as much as $10/day. No big deal if you're renting for a day, but if you're staying a week, it can add up. The most ridiculous deal I found was at TYS a few years ago. If you rented a car at the FBO, it was $6/day more than renting the same car at the main terminal. The main terminal is maybe 200 yards away - an easy walk. No big deal if you're renting for a day, but if you're staying a week, it can add up. At =$70 it doesn't cover the hassle of an hour (probably two) of shuttling around Las Vegas (for me). The most ridiculous deal I found was at TYS a few years ago. If you rented a car at the FBO, it was $6/day more than renting the same car at the main terminal. The main terminal is maybe 200 yards away - an easy walk. Yeah, I've been surprised at the variability but I'm typically happy to pay an extra $6/$12/.. to get the car from the FBO if that means that it's waiting for me at the plane (especially after hours) instead of down the road and locked out of the ramp. Supporting an FBO isn't the worst thing I've done with my money. And then there are the times when the FBO has sent us home with a car to keep overnight at no charge (Bode, AEG) or we've been able to extend the car rental for a few extra hours at no charge (Million Air, MRY). The service we get from FBOs who handle rental cars more than makes up for a slight increase in cost. --kyler |

Enterprise offers free pick-up as a normal part of their service.
I have rented from them many times, and have been quite satisfied. That said, their hours tend to be rather limited, particularly in smaller towns. However, in Las Vegas it's not a problem. They are open till midnight seven days a week (I checked). www.enterprise.com Dave |
