Not at all common in the 182, Mike. 46 pounds of fuel? 8 gallons for taxi? I
think not. Jim "Mike Rapoport" shared these priceless pearls of wisdom: -Very common. It is assumed that fuel will be burned off starting and -taxiing. My airplane has a max ramp weight of 11,625lb and a max TO weight -of 11,575lb. - - -Ramp weight is 4 lbs over max gross. - -I will be 50 lbs over max takeoff weight. Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa!
Max Weight RAMP = 3110 lbs Max Weight TAKEOFF = 3100 lbs Max Weight LANDING = 2950 lbs I mixed the titles and numbers when I glanced at it. I still was concerned about turbulence at a higher actual takeoff weight. That 4 lbs was more like 60. Takeoff accelleration was slow, but it still popped off the runway at 60 kts with 10? flaps. Fortunately, the first 1.5 hr of flight was smooth. The second 1.5 was moderate turbulence. Sufficient to cause my spouse to toss her lunch southwest of Milwaukee. The kids in back said we landed just in time. Jim Weir wrote: That makes absolutely no sense. If the ramp weight is a particular number, how can the max takeoff weight be less? Do you plan on doing a midair refueling to get up to max gross after departure? Do you plan on doing a midair refueling to get up to max gross after departure? Many of the Cessna's give you some extra for taxiing out and doing the runup. The 152 for example, says you can go 5 lbs over the gross weight for taxi. |

Sorry Ron, I took seven years of German. Translation please? It's Latin. The phrase "mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa" is most commonly associated with the Catholic Mass "Confiteor," a prayer of confession said near the beginning of the Mass. The commonly used English version of the passage is : Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. I beseech the Blessed Mary ever Virgin, ... The truly penitent beat their breast three times during the "mea culpa" part. |
